1a) Demonstrating a Knowledge of Content and Pedagogy

  • Supporting Goal
    • I will use information from In-Service trainings to help guide my classroom instruction and strengthen my knowledge of content and pedagogy.
  • Plan
    • After discussing different procedures for implementing the math program, I  have decided that I will implement centers into my math curriculum in my classroom.  This will give me an opportunity to use small group instruction daily with math concepts.
  • Evidence
    • My class has continued to improve with their weekly math scores since I started using small group instruction in my math block.  The are grouped into six groups of four with different ability levels in each group.  The highest student in each group is the team leader and is available to help their team during centers while I am teaching small groups at the back table.

1f)  Assessing Student Learning

  • Supporting Goal
    • I will use information from pretests to guide my instruction for the units that I teach.  I will also use formative assessments to help guide my classroom instruction.
  • Plan
    • Give a pre-assessment to each student at the beginning of each unit I teach.  This will give me the background knowledge that each student has on the subject and will help guide my instruction for the unit.  I will also use formative assessments throughout the unit to evaluate what has been taught and what needs to be retaught to the students.

Domain I: Planning and Preparation 2012-2013

Supporting Goal: (1b, 1e, 1f) Design and assess small group instruction in all content areas for my students.

Plan:  Use formative assessments to group students according to their individual needs.

Evidence:  Students have demonstrated gains in all content areas because of small-group, targeted instruction.
